Welcome to Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church
Greetings in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!
Welcome to the website for Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, believed to be the first Orthodox Church in the
Do not let the word Greek fool you. Our English-speaking parish is made up of Orthodox Christians who are Greek, Russian, Serbian, Latino, German and many others. All are welcome to come and worship with us and to find out more about the Orthodox Church.
If you have never stepped foot in an Orthodox Church, then you will be in for a pleasant surprise. Perhaps you will witness things that you have never seen before, such as Icons, not on computer screens, but on walls and the veneration of those icons. The smell of sweet burning incense as part of traditional worship and prayer will fill the church. You will be invited to light a candle in the Narthex as a reminder of the light of Christ that should burn bright in each of us. You will hear vocal melodies that have echoed for centuries and whose lyrics unfold profound proclamations of truth. There are many more items that your eyes may never have seen, nor ears have heard, but they will touch your heart.
If you are unaware of the Orthodox Church, we encourage you to learn its long history and the role it has in today’s world. By exploring its long history you will discover that the Church, lead by the Holy Spirit, establishes the foundation of today’s Bible. History will also show that the Church has endured captivity and plundering by the Ottoman, Crusaders and others. This very day the Church finds some of its most valuable resources “off limits” by forces that have tried to wipe the presence of the Orthodox Church from their country. Yet, the Orthodox Church stands today with Jesus Christ as its Lord and Savior and firmly believes the promise of the Lord regarding His Church, “…and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:16-19)
We are a small and growing parish with a strong and loving heart for our Savior Jesus Christ and His people. Our love for Christ is not only shown in our traditional worship, but in traditional Christian support of our neighbors in the
