Christ is Risen+  I pray that as we continue to say these words, all is well in your home and your heart continues to grow in love for Jesus Christ.

This Paschal Season of joy and celebration has seen much happen in the growth of our parish and the Church.  During the first three Sundays following Pascha we were blessed to welcome two new Orthodox Christians into Christ’s Church through Holy Baptism and unite a couple in Holy Marriage.  There were already two baptisms before Great Lent began with more baptisms and weddings planned for 2010.  As a matter of fact, it appears that in 2010 our parish will see the most baptisms and weddings in a year since the church was built. Praise be to God.  Oh yes, did I mention we have those who have inquired about entering Christ’s Orthodox Church and are now making progress to becoming Orthodox.  Again, we praise God!!

I share this with you out of excitement, joy and awe in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Infants and adults are being baptized, couples are realizing the importance of God’s blessing and guidance in marriage, and pilgrims are discovering the true meaning of Christ and His Orthodox Church. Despite the small size of our parish, the Holy Spirit can indeed cause things to happen in the hearts of parishioners so that we may serve the needs of others as they grow in Jesus Christ.  It is indeed a blessing to be assigned to the “little parish that can with Jesus Christ in our heart!”

Speaking of the Holy Spirit, on May 23, 2010 we will celebrate Pentecost.  This Holy Day marks the coming of the Holy Spirit into the world and the beginning of the spreading of the Good News of Jesus Christ.  This is also the day we recognize as the day the Church began.  However, ten days earlier on Thursday, May 13, 2010 we mark the Holy Day of The Ascension of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  After Christ’s glorious Resurrection from the dead He walked, talked, ate, and was seen by certain people for 40 days.  Then on the 40th day and with His disciples present He bodily ascended into heaven.  Between these two important Holy Days our parish will celebrate the feast day of Sts. Constantine and Helen with a Divine Liturgy and a Glendi.  Please check the Worship Schedule found in this bulletin for Divine Liturgies times and the Announcement Schedule for the Glendi information.

Looking forward to worshipping with you at all the Divine Liturgies we will celebrate in May by the grace of God.

In Christ’s love,

Fr. John
